Working With Dyslexia
In the workplace, it is important to provide support for employees with dyslexia to ensure they can perform to the best of their abilities and thrive within their roles.
Effective ways to provide this support are through dyslexia screening, a workplace needs assessment and dyslexia workplace coaching.
Services
Adult Dyslexia Screening
The initial step in identifying dyslexia.
A screening will provide an indication of whether or not an individual may be dyslexic. Screening is not a formal diagnosis.
Suitable for people aged 18 and over, a screening will take around 1 hour to complete.
It will provide a cognitive and literacy skills report together with individually tailored recommendations for the individual.
Workplace Dyslexia Coaching
Workplace Needs Assessment
Helping dyslexic minds thrive in the workplace through coaching.
During coaching, individuals develop and practise coping strategies that will help them to feel more in control of the challenges their dyslexia can bring in work.
The strategies developed and practised will be tailored so that they work in ways that the individual prefers to learn and process information.
Online sessions are 1 hour in duration. The number of sessions recommended will depend on the needs of the individual but usually range between 3-6 sessions.
The cost of coaching may be supported through Access to Work funding.
Identifying employee needs and reasonable adjustments.
A workplace needs assessment supports employers and employees to understand what reasonable adjustments in the workplace would be beneficial, and what adjustments are available. The assessment will explore the challenges individual employees might be facing at work because of their neurodiversity and makes recommendations to improve well-being and productivity.
Adjustments don’t have to cost a lot but they make a big impact. Individuals can also apply to Access to Work funding to help pay for any recommendations or ongoing support.
The online assessment is a two-hour consultation with a specialist British Dyslexia Association approved assessor.
